The Odessa
band program is currently in its second year using the
smart music software. This software is a great tool in
helping your student practice at home. On Monday,
September 24 from 5:30-7:00 we will have a demonstration
of the software in the Middle School band room.

10/17/07 Notice to all band/guard students
and parents:
Due to the inclement weather, we are not able
to practice on the big field for our rehearsal
tomorrow (Thursday) night. With BOA this
weekend, we can't miss out on this important
rehearsal time. Please take note of the
following changes:
- We WILL have Thursday night
rehearsal starting at the normal 6:00 pm
time at Odessa High School.
- For the last half of the rehearsal, we
will load all the students on busses and go
to the Oak Grove High School athletic
field to have full run through of the show.
Because of their all-weather surface, the
rain will not keep us from rehearsing there
like it does on our natural turf.
- Parents who are helping with props,
please plan to be at Oak Grove High School
by 7:40 p.m.
- Our administration has indicated ALL
students will need to go as a group on the
busses BOTH to and from Oak Grove.
Parents who wish to take their student home
directly from Oak Grove will need to sign
them out from a director just like at a
competition.
- We will finish our rehearsal in Oak
Grove by 9:00 pm, so that will mean
we will get back to Odessa a little later
than our normal finish time.
Thank you all for your flexibility!

Booster Page Updated
NOTE:
The Marching Band Page has now
been updated with basic links for this year's marching
events. Of course - the pages are all empty right now -
but as itineraries and festival schedules are produced -
they will be added to the pages. As in previous years,
post-event recaps will be added as well.
We are
seriously in need of an additional Large Enclosed
Trailer to transport equipment through out the
marching season. Equipment consists of 2 conductor
stands (6 ft and 3-4 ft), black panels, tympanis, etc.
Please contact
Wayne Moore at 816-682-7288 if you are able to
donate the use of a trailer.
Magazine
Fund Raiser is in full swing for the High School.
If you haven't seen the packet - ask your student for
it! 40% of proceeds
go directly to your student's trip account and
will be credited for the Indianapolis trip. Get those
magazine orders turned in on Tuesday, Sept 18!
Carrollton: BOD Groupies (otherwise known as
parents, brothers, sisters and other fans!) Don't forget
to wear your BOD t-shirt or other BOD-apparel on
Saturday at Carrollton! Let's fill the stands with red &
black! Remember you can eat pizza with the Band of
Distinction for a $5 meal donation on Saturday. Please
wait until all students have been served to join the
line.
Band of Distinction Spirit Apparel
NEW
Last week to order additional
shirts!
Orders were taken at Meet the Band Night but if you
missed it and would still like to order a shirt - you
may do so online using
this form. Please send a check for your
completed order with your student at Thursday night's
practice (8/30). Shirts will be delivered in time for
the Carrollton Band Day - so we can represent the BOD in
style!
Meet The
Band Night pictures (event pictures for the
website, not the formal group pictures): Unfortunately -
I will not be at Meet the Band Night to take website
gallery pictures so I need one or more parents to be
sure to do that please. Evan and I will be traveling
with the KC American Legion Band to a national
competition in Reno, NV this weekend. Please keep our
members in your thoughts and prayers as we travel &
compete! ~Belinda
Don't
forget - it's all about the WE - in order to get
the most out of band camp - drink plenty of water
(proper hydration starts the day before, not the day
of), don't play guitar hero 'til 3 a.m, and wear
comfortable shoes to band camp (you can't march properly
in flipflops!). Have fun but work hard! Who did you
meet new today?
CLARINETS/SAXOPHONES:
We will send off a bulk reed order on Tuesday, August 7.
Print the (revised) Fall 2007 Reed prices form from the
right column - or pick one up in the band room and turn
it in with your money on Monday. ~Belinda
Notarized
Health Forms need to be turned in before the end of
Band Camp. Every family should have received the form in
the mail the last week of July. (Guard members received
it on Monday of Band Camp). The first installment ($125)
of the Indianapolis Trip/Marching Band Fee (total $375)
also needs to be paid before the end of Band Camp. The
informational letter about fees was mailed the first
week of July to every band member's home.
Hey
Juniors, Sophomores & Seniors: If you have any spare
lanyards hanging around in your room from previous years
- please bring them to band camp for someone else to use
instead of string.
