BAND BOOSTER NEWS

Band Booster meeting was called to order at 7:00 in the library of the high school. There were 12 people present.

Minutes of the previous meeting were distributed to each person. Motion made, seconded, and carried to accept the minutes as written.

Treasurer’s Report – Lisa Johnson

Regular checking $8,835.92
Money Market $9,418.96
Fund Raising $6,795.65

All expenses for Chicago trip are paid. Returns have been issued to all who requested. Total expense for Chicago was $32,362.48. Treasurer’s report was accepted as given by motion and second.

There are some miscellaneous snacks that were donated and leftover that will not keep through the summer. We will donate those items to the Common Ground Youth Center.

Correspondence Secretary Laura Osborne will send thank you letters to:

• Bus company
• Hotel
• Downer’s Grove High School
• Bessie Madsen and Dena Brown for the quilt raffled ($190 received on ticket sales)

There are plenty of trash bags available for sale over the summer. If anyone needs any, contact Carrie Moore at the Movie Gallery.

Band trips will be limited by some new school policies under consideration. It is not the intention of the band staff to have two major trips in one school year. There will be some variation in interpretation as to what is considered a major trip. Out-of-state trips will be affected by new policies.

The school board meets each second Tuesday of the month and holds open discussion for anyone who has interest in the decisions being made by the board.

Awards night is May 24 at 6:00 p.m. We have plenty of drinks. We’ll ask each family to bring a dessert with a serving utensil (if needed). Anyone interested is welcome to attend. Chere White, Sarah Williams, and Mrs. Hill will handle decorations.

The band will perform for the graduation ceremony beginning at 6:30 on May 18.

Uniforms should be returned to school in the garment bag.

Total raised was $4,764.51. Of that amount, $1,420 went to student accounts and the remaining $3,344.51 went to general band account.

Make sure Bulldog Storage is added to all donator lists or programs and included on “thank you’s.”

Turn in all Patricia’s receipts to Pam Raffurty to redeem for cash for band booster account.

Band Camp will be July 30 – August 10.
