Band Booster Meeting Minutes – June 11, 2007
Pam Raffurty, Vice-President, called the Band Booster meeting to order at 7:00 in the new band room. There were 15 people present. Minutes of the previous meeting were distributed to each person. Motion made, seconded, and carried to accept the minutes as written. Correspondence Secretary’s Report: Laura Osborn

No outstanding bills except for the
trash bags. Summer practice went well for the first practice. Two-thirds of the band was present. Will be working on obtaining consistency in marching technique thru out the summer Thursday night practices. The tentative schedule is posted on line, given to the students and was presented again to those present at the meeting. The District and State Band, Solo and Ensemble dates are firm. The rest is up to Board approval. Band Camp is July 30 to August 10. 40 people volunteered to provide Popsicles. We ask that the Popsicles be brought to camp frozen. The big orange jugs will be filled with water. Students can bring their own bottle also. Meet the Band Night is August 25 at 6:30 or 7:00 pm. Swimming Party Night was proposed as an opportunity for band members to get to know each other. Pam was to look into reserving the pool for July 26 from 8:15-10:15 pm. It was moved that the Band Booster’s host the party. The motion was seconded and approved. PJ Parade is August 4. Due to the heat, it was suggested that volunteers be at Casey’s with misters and/or wet washcloths. Volunteers are also needed at the parade’s end to pass out water bottles. Camp Fees will consist of fees for uniform cleaning, 3rd quarter snacks at football games, and possible trip fees. Amount due will be decided at a later date. Connie and Pam will compile a letter to send home. It was suggested for the Band Boosters to pay for the band directors lunches and tips during band camp. The motion was made, second and approved. A Band Directory will be compiled with approval from parents to include their address, phone number, and/or email address. The prop committee met and has approved the props for the marching season. The props will consist of 7 color digital prints on a mesh type of material, which is held up by a frame. The pictures will represent an American theme that will coexist with a feeling. The company will provide the color printing at cost. It was moved, seconded and approved for the Band Booster to pay for the props for the upcoming Marching Season. Please contact an executive officer for amount approved. The third quarter snacks will have allocated funds from the camp fees. However at the competitions donations will be needed. A sign up sheet at Meet the Band Night was suggested. Pam Raffurty presented a suggestion on having a New Parent’s Buddy System. A new parent would be partner with an older parent who would be available to answer questions. There will be 40 new band members. Lois Lannin suggested generating a Band Booster Handbook. Heard from the Football Booster’s who are also concerned with the new policies that will be voted on at the upcoming Board Meeting. All Board Meetings are open to the public. Bulldog Storage is in need of receipts for the donated storage unit. We will provide a Thank You blurb at all home football games, advertising for the OMI and will be a hole sponsor at the next golf tournament in exchange of rental fee for the storage unit. Mr. Spayde stated he might need help in purchasing a new instrument. The instrument is a “Mallet Kat.” It is basically a synthesizer for mallets. It would include a cart, case, 2 octave expansion kits, pedals, and mallets. This was tabled for later a meeting. Local DCI shows:
