OHS Band Places Third at Blue Valley Northwest

The Odessa Band of Distinction competed for the first time ever in the Husky Band Invitational in Overland Park, Kansas on October 28, 2006. The band placed second in the Black Division during Preliminary competition.

Unlike most competitions the classes were divided by band size instead of school size. The Black Division hosted bands of 131 and smaller. The Purple Division bands each numbered over 131 members. Though the divisions were not based on school size, the Louisburg, Kansas band represented the only school comparable in size to Odessa. All other schools represented on Saturday were at least twice the enrollment of Odessa High School.

Odessa's preliminary round score advanced the band to the finals with 5 additional bands and placed 3rd overall with high marks.
